Smartproxy Launches Site Unblocker

The new proxy service includes web scraping and JavaScript rendering capabilities, charges for traffic use.

Smartproxy, the international provider of proxies and web scraping infrastructure, has launched a new product – Site Unblocker.

In a nutshell, it’s a remote web scraper that integrates as a proxy server. The motivation behind the service is to simplify work needed to extract a page’s HTML.

To achieve this, Site Unblocker automatically selects the appropriate proxy type, applies request headers, and otherwise chooses a fingerprint configuration to open webpages without fail. It can also render JavaScript, allowing to forgo headless browser instances.

These measures should let you consistently scrape challenging sites like G2 or Zillow with something as simple as a cURL request.

Site Unblocker allows targeting all countries in the world with city and coordinate level precision. In addition, it can establish sessions that last up to 10 minutes.

Smartproxy prices Site Unblocker by traffic use. The plans start from $28/month for 2 GB and scale to terabytes of data. The provider stresses that it charges the same for all targets, which is probably a jab at Bright Data’s differentiated pricing by website difficulty.

Site Unblocker joins the ranks of an expanding category of proxy networks that could be called proxy APIs. Zyte (then Scrapinghub) was one of the first to launch a similar service, and now they’re available with several major providers like Bright Data and Oxylabs.

Site Unblocker is already available for purchase with a 3-day money-back option.
