Main Uses of Craigslist Proxies
You can reap the benefits of Craigslist proxies in many ways; however, the most common uses are posting in different countries and cities than your own locale, bulk posting, and scraping.
Target Other Countries and Cities on Craigslist
Craigslist operates in 700 cities and 70 countries. As you probably already know, it caters to local communities. That’s why requests from different countries and even cities are restricted. As a result, you won’t be able to post anything on the New York board if you live, say, in the UK. If you try, you’ll find Craigslist blocking your IP address.
Does that mean your business should forgo Craigslist as a sales platform? Not necessarily. Simply use a Craigslist proxy server, and it will make you look like a local.
Post Multiple Craigslist Ads
Did you know that Craigslist actually allows bulk posting? There are only a few small details. To use the Craigslist API, you have to:
- Be a high volume poster (post hundreds of ads every month)
- Limit your posts to three categories: jobs (offered), apartment rentals for sale by dealer.
- Be selected on a case-by-case basis by Craigslist itself.
Everyone else is limited to one advertisement in one category every 48 hours. Pretty disappointing, right? Don’t worry, there’s a way around it. You’ll need a Craigslist proxy server to post multiple ads successfully.
However, even with proxies, you need to keep some things in mind. Use separate proxies for separate postings. Don’t make posts at the same time; they should be at least slightly different and without spammy words such as “free” or “weight loss.”
Scrape Craigslist
Unlike other online platforms, Craigslist does not have an API for data retrieval. In other words, you can’t collect data from it automatically – you’d effectively have to copy it by hand.
Thankfully, you can 1) build your a Craigslist scraper with any programming language of your choice and integrate proxies or 2) go with commercial web scraping or proxy-based APIs that already include proxies. Most of the providers on this list offer both – proxies and web scraping tools.
Without a proxy server, Craigslist will quickly detect an unusual number of requests and block your IP from the website. With good residential proxies you’ll be able to scrape Craigslist at scale without getting blocked.
What data do people want from Craigslist exactly? Some users scrape Craigslist to keep an eye on items that are being sold (tickets, for example). Others use scrapers to find something for personal use. Businesses use Craigslist proxies to retrieve website data so that they can generate leads. Usually, they go through the postings and collect email addresses.
How to Choose the Best Proxy Service for Craigslist
Here’s a few tips for getting your Craigslist proxies right the first time:
- Get residential IPs for scraping – they rotate automatically, so residential proxies will be much easier to work with. They are also harder to identify as they come from real residential devices.
- Choose a provider with many locations (and make sure you can actually target them) – this is to ensure you’ll be able to access whichever Craigslist board you need. But finding a provider with high location coverage isn’t enough – you must also be able to target them.
- Consider custom rotation options – sometimes you’ll need for your IP address to stick for some time. For example, when you need to post a new listing.
- Don’t buy SOCKS5 proxies – they won’t bring you any benefits, only extra expenses.
Avoid Free Craigslist Proxy Servers
When it comes to money, we all love to save a buck or two when the opportunity appears. But no matter how tempted you are to give free proxies a shot, we advise against it. Free proxies are highly problematic.
First of all, there are hardly any free services on the market that would work well with Craigslist. Another thing worth noting is that free proxies don’t guarantee that they are safe to use. Still unconvinced? You can read more on the topic here.
How We Chose the Best Proxies
Each year, we at Proxyway run the Proxy Market Research. For this report, we test the proxies of some of the biggest providers in the market to see whether the performance matches the marketing. Proxy Market Research 2026 is already out.
To test the proxies, we run tens of thousands of requests over a couple of weeks. The full methodology is better explained in the report. But what you should understand is that it allows us to make a representative benchmark of how the providers’ residential proxies perform. For the purposes of this article, we’re adding a table to show the residential proxies’ connection success rate and speed for the global pool.
| Success rate | Response time | |
| Decodo | 99.92% | 0.53 s |
| Oxylabs | 99.93% | 0.60 s |
| Byteful | 99.69% | 0.41 s |
| SOAX | 99.78% | 0.89 s |
| DataImpulse | 99.82% | 0.97 s |
| Rayobyte | 98.02% | 1.86 s |
| IPRoyal | 96.11% | 1.24 s |
| Webshare | 99.28% | 0.86 s |

Decodo has a sizable global pool of residential IPs. And we know they’re really residential, as our testing returned 2.8 million unique residential IPs from 3.6 million requests. Furthermore, those were quality proxies, coming in second in speed and success rate.
Those proxies can be geographically filtered even more granularly than Craigslist sub-sites. You can also filter by SP and ASN and choose between IPv4 and IPv6. Access them with your credentials or via an IP whitelist. And if you need more hands on deck, Decodo supports sub-user creation.
For more information and performance tests, read our Decodo review.
2. Oxylabs
The best premium residential service.
Residential proxies

- Countries: 195+ with state, city, ASN, ZIP, coordinate targeting
- Rotation: Every request, customizable sessions up to 24 hrs
- Other features: OS, IP protocol selection

Oxylabs is one of the providers for those with enterprise needs. Its residential proxy pool is both huge and brimming with unique residential IPs. Moreover, these proxies scored the first spot in success rates and third in response speed in PMR2026.
You can sort that pool down to the level of coordinates – how often do you see that? And the proxies can be filtered not only on the IP (Internet Protocol) version support, but also by OS. You can connect to them with your credentials or via an IP whitelist. Sub-user creation is supported, too. This is unsurprising, as Oxylabs is focusing on business customers, with prices to match.
For more information and performance tests, read our Oxylabs review.
3. Byteful
Great speeds, good targeting.
Use the code PROXYWAY40 to get 40% off.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 35M IPs
- Countries: 150+ with state, city, ASN/ISP, ZIP targeting
- Rotation: Every request, sessions up to seven days
- Other features: Pool size & speed filters, Smartpath engine
- Starts from: $3.25 for 1 GB. Scaling pay as you go
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 with UDP
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist
- Extras: Management API, proxy checker
- Support: 5AM-7PM European time via live chat, email, tickets, Discord
- Trial: 1 GB for residential proxies
Do you think any sneakers that were copped when Byteful was still sneaker-focused Ping Proxies went on to be sold on Craigslist? Who knows! But you’ll have a much easier time discovering what is being traded on Craigslist if you scrape it with Byteful’s performant residential proxies.
The proxies form a pool 35 million-strong, drawn from over 150 countries all over the world. Targeting is possible down to ZIP level, likely covering any place that Craigslist does. There’s also the Smartpath engine. With it, any traffic that doesn’t need the oomph of residential proxies will go through the cheaper datacenter ones.
Byteful’s offerings are subscription-based, with traffic rollover. Sadly, support only works during European business hours.
For more information and performance tests, read our Byteful review.
4. SOAX
Very flexible rotation & location targeting options.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 155M IPs
- Countries: 195+ with state, city, ASN targeting, ISP, ZIP code filters
- Rotation: Every request, sessions up to 7 days or X requests, strict sessions
- Other features: Look-a-like rotation, use together with mobile IPs
- Starts from: $25 for 5-12.5 GB ($2-$5/GB), depending on IP location
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 with UDP
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist
- Extras: Reporting API
- Support: 7 AM to 7 PM UK time via live chat, tickets, or email
- Trial: Paid ($1.99)
SOAX delivers all of its proxy types in one package, but we’re focusing on residential proxies here. Based on marketing numbers, it would have had the second-largest pool we tested in PMR26, but our tests returned unique IPs only half the time. Still, those proxies displayed success rates that put them close to the top, even if the response speed was middling.
When you buy into SOAX, you buy credit that can be spent on either residential or mobile proxies. But not all traffic is equal. There are three tiers of proxies based on their location. The difference between tier 1 (US) and tier 3 (Afghanistan) can be pretty stark: $5/GB for the former, $2/GB for the latter. Whichever way you choose to spend that credit, you’ll still have 60 days of credit rollover. However, you’ll need to go beyond the intro plan to add team members.
For more information and performance tests, read our SOAX review.
5. DataImpulse
Cheap residential IPs with limited features.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 90M IPs
- Countries: 150+ with state, city, ASN, ZIP targeting
- Rotation: Every request, sessions up to 120 min
- Other features: Exclude location, ASN, denylist domains
- Starts from: $50 for 50 GB ($1/GB). Pay as you go
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 with UDP (upon request)
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist
- Extras: Reseller API
- Support: 24/7 live chat, email
- Trial: Not available
DataImpulse brought the fratricide vibes to Proxy Market Research 2026 as it had two competing varieties of residential proxies. DataImpulse Premium is the high-speed, low-drag alternative to its regular residential option. Is it worth the five-fold increase in price?
As our testing showed, Premium had a higher infrastructure success rate and faster response times. Was it five times better? That’s for you to decide: 99.82% vs. 99.74% doesn’t seem much, but it can add up if your requests go into the millions.
However, both products have the same features, like the option to exclude IPs based on various location parameters or ASN. Additionally, DataImpulse supports sub-user creation.
For more information and performance tests, read our Dataimpulse review.
6. Rayobyte
Residential proxies with non-expiring traffic.
Use the code proxyway to get 5% off.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 40M IPs
- Countries: 100+ with state, city, ASN, ZIP targeting
- Rotation: Every request, up to 60 min, strict sessions
- Other features: OS, IP protocol filters
- Starts from: $4 for 1 GB. Scaling pay as you go
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist (excl. rotating DC)
- Extras: Reseller API, browser extension, proxy checker
- Support: 24/7 via email, ticketing system, or live chat
- Trial: 2-day refund
Rayobyte has a decently sized roster of residential proxies. However, their performance is less impressive. The infrastructure success rate trails nearly all other contestants in most locations. Sure, it had quite a good showing in India, but I doubt Craigslist is that popular in the subcontinent. The response time is even worse.
When it comes to service perks, Rayobyte allows filtering down to ZIP and ASN levels, and supports SOCKS5. You also get non-expiring traffic and the ability to establish strict sessions that try to keep the same IP as long as possible. On the other hand? No sub-users.
For more information and performance tests, read our Rayobyte review.
7. IPRoyal
Affordable proxies with flexible filtering options.
Use coupon PROXYWAY30 to get a 30% discount.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 64M IPs
- Countries: 150+ with state, city & coordinate targeting
- Rotation: Every request, 1s-24hr, manual
- Other features: High-end pool, exclude ISP proxies, exclude IP ranges, denylist domains
- Starts from: $7 for 1 GB. Scaling pay as you go available
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 with UDP (DC & ISP only)
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist
- Extras: Proxy tester, browser extension
- Support: 24/7 via live chat or email
- Trial: Not available
Is IPRoyal the choice worthy of a king? Not really, at least when residential proxy success rate is concerned. It does rise above the level of dukes and whatnot, with response speed that’s closer to the middle of the pack.
At least the proxies come festooned with features. Coordinate targeting is now available. And while ISP/ASN filtering isn’t available by default, you can opt for better quality IPs or exclude entire IP ranges. IPRoyal supports sub-user creation, which is always welcome.
It’s also one of the select few that allow both domain whitelisting and blacklisting. Whitelisting works like reverse blacklisting: add a single domain to that list, and your proxies won’t be able to access any others.
For more information and performance tests, read our IPRoyal review.
8. Webshare
Absolute self-service and customizable subscription.
Get 50% off your first purchase.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 80M IPs
- Countries: 195+ with state, city, ASN & ZIP code targeting
- Rotation: Every request, customizable sessions
- Starts from: $3.5 for 1 GB
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, SOCKS5
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist
- Extras: Sub-users, management API, browser extension
- Support: 6AM-6PM PST via live chat & email
- Trial: Refund available
Webshare remains the king of customizable subscriptions. It’s also the ruler of the hotly contested average performance zone. This includes the response time in the ever-important-for-Craigslist US area.
Location targeting is available at the country, city, state, and ZIP levels. You may also filter by ASNs. No curbside couch ad in Wyoming will go unscraped! Sessions go on as long as available, with no strict session option.
Now, as mentioned, the big deal with Webshare is customization. If you want more than 500 threads, traffic priority, and unlimited IP authorization (so that more than one account can use the same device’s IP address to access proxies), you’ll have to pay extra. The neatest part is that three sub-users are free, and getting more costs peanuts.
For more information and performance tests, read our Webshare review.
Strong Options That We Haven’t Tested Recently
9. Bright Data
The most versatile provider.
Use the code PROXYWAY60 to get 60% off all proxy plans and Browser API. New users only.
Residential proxies
- Advertised pool: 400M IPs
- Countries: 195+ with state, city, ASN/ISP, ZIP, coordinate targeting
- Rotation: Every request, sticky sessions (customizable with extra app)
- Other features: IP protocol, OS selection, dedicated IPs
- Starts from: $4 for 1 GB. Pay as you go available
General info
- Protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 with UDP
- Authorization: Credentials, IP whitelist
- Extras: Management API, sub-users, browser extension, Proxy Manager app
- Support: 24/7 via live chat, tickets, dedicated account manager
- Trial: No-card free trial available
Bright Data has the largest pool of residential proxies around. Back when we last tested its infrastructure in 2024, a million requests returned nearly 900,000 unique residential IPs. This signaled that Bright Data was doing well on its marketing claims. Back then, it boasted of 72 million residential proxies. We haven’t tested whether it has maintained that quality while growing. Where performance was concerned, Bright Data’s proxies stayed just out of the top 3.
Is it a quality service otherwise? It should be, with worldwide location coverage, no concurrency limitations, and SOCKS5 support. You can set various filters for the pool, including IPv4 or IPv6 proxy selection. Another feature is dedicated residential proxies, which work on a different understanding of dedicated. You set specific domains/targets, and only you will be able to access them via the proxy in question. In other words, if you set a dedicated proxy for YouTube, no other Bright Data user will be able to access YouTube via that proxy.
There are some downsides to Bright Data. First off, it’s just for businesses. You can’t even register for Know-Your-Customer procedures without a business email, and you need KYC for anything remotely advanced. And with this business focus comes business pricing: while PAYG proxies are $4/GB, the first tier of subscription is already $499/mo.
For more information and performance tests, read our Bright Data review.
Frequently Asked Questions About Craigslist Proxies
A Craigslist proxy is an intermediary device you connect to to get its IP address and to hide your real IP addresses. People use it to scrape data from Craigslist, get around phone verification, make multiple posts, avoid location restrictions or stay anonymous.
You can buy them from any of the providers on our list. Most of them come with free trials or money-back guarantees, so you can try out their services without risk.
There can be multiple reasons. You might be trying to post more listings than Craigslist allows. Or if you’re scraping the platform, you might have made too many requests too quickly. Craigslist proxies can help overcome these issues by replacing your blocked IP address with a clean one.
You can use proxies for that. They change your IP address and make Craigslist see you as connecting from a different device, potentially from another place in the world.
