Byteful Introduces Organizations

The feature is oriented at teams, but it also works with AI agents.

Adam Dubois

Byteful, the UK-based provider of proxy servers, has improved team access functionality by introducing organizations.

Organizations are workspaces which give teams shared access to resources. Each organization can include multiple members with different roles:

  • Owner with full administrative powers.
  • Admin with the ability to edit the organization, manage keys and members.
  • User who lacks administrative permissions but otherwise interacts with the organization.

Users can freely switch between their personal profiles and team workspaces. It’s possible to belong to multiple organizations at once. Billing follows the workspace.

Workspaces as such are a relatively standard feature. What makes Byteful’s implementation particularly interesting to us is the API access management options.

Workspace members have the power to generate API keys with fine-grained permissions. Byteful’s API gives developers full control, so they can create keys that include only analytics functionality, user creation, proxy access, or billing. What’s more, the keys can be set to expire after as little as one minute or as long as several months.

Aside from defining access levels for people, Byteful’s API can also set guardrails for AI tools, giving them controlled agency over the service.

Organizations are already available to all Byteful’s customers at no extra cost.
