ISP proxies (also called static residential proxies) are getting increasingly popular, and they’re probably the hardest proxy server type to get right. We took our time to analyze the dedicated IPs of nearly a dozen providers.
Here are some highlights:
- We distinguished four IP quality tiers based on their characteristics. The best proxies come directly from major consumer ISPs, but they’re extremely hard to source at scale and nearly impossible to obtain outside the US.
- The largest networks cover over 40 countries, with optional city and ASN selection. This product is also starting to close the feature gap with other proxy types, gaining backconnect gateways, sub-users, and similar functionality.
- Dedicated ISP proxy servers can be very fast, reaching 30ms latency in optimal conditions. Compared to residential proxies, they run 10-15 times faster, and the difference grows with packet size.
- An IP costs between $2 and $4. Their rates decrease less at scale compared to other proxy types due to sourcing challenges.
