microsoft retires bing apis

After just three months since its first announcement, Microsoft is shutting down Bing Search APIs.

Access will be disabled for all but the largest existing customers, such as DuckDuckGo.

Microsoft guides other customers, together with new users, to consider its Grounding with Bing Search feature. It returns Bing data as part of chatbot responses, effectively serving as an engine for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

Bing APIs were used by developers to programmatically access web, image, and other results from Bing Search.

Developers who need raw data will have to resort to unofficial third-party search engine APIs.
