It’s a web scraper that integrates as a proxy server.

iproyal unblocker explained

IPRoyal, the Lithuanian provider of proxy servers, has expanded into web scraping tools with the addition of Web Unblocker.

Web Unblocker is a middle ground between proxies and web scrapers. It integrates as a proxy server and, in addition to rotating IP addresses, undertakes to handle all roadblocks to opening websites, including anti-bot systems and dynamic page loading.

IPRoyal’s tool includes geolocation targeting up to the city level, JavaScript rendering capabilities, and the option to pass on custom headers, such as cookies. It can handle up to 200 concurrent requests.

According to the documentation, Web Unblocker currently works best with e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Shopee, websites protected by Cloudflare and standard bot protection. On the other hand, it’s unable to handle search engines, reCAPTCHA, hCAPTCHA, or interactive challenges yet.

IPRoyal charges for successful page loads. The pricing starts at one dollar and scales to 100k requests with the public plans. Purchased requests don’t seem to expire.

Requests Price/1k requests Total price
1,000 $1 $1
5,000 $0.9 $4.5
50,000 $0.8 $40
100,000 $0.7 $70

Web unblockers have been struggling to find footing in the market, giving way to the more established category of web scraping APIs. But maybe IPRoyal will find how to make it work.

IPRoyal’s Web Unblocker is already available for purchase.

IPRoyal

The Lithuanian provider meets 2023 with a fresh face and new aspirations.

iproyal homepage new
IPRoyal, the Lithuanian provider of proxy servers, has made major changes to its service. They include an updated visual identity, feature additions, and increased prices for most proxy plans.

New Branding

The first change involves IPRoyal’s website. It follows a completely new visual identity. The provider’s familiar green was replaced with various shades of blue, which also found its way into the IPRoyal logo.

In addition, the website features multiple structural adjustments (for example, the homepage was remade completely), though its overarching framework remains the same. In line with broader proxy market trends, IPRoyal now positions as a 100% transparent and ethical proxy service

It’s interesting that IPRoyal openly compares itself with premium competitors like Bright Data and Oxylabs. This shows a shift in focus. Though still largely oriented toward individual users, the provider will now try to capture more companies and upmarket clients.

The blurred logos represent well known providers. IPRoyal strategically shows its lowest price compared to the entry point prices of others.

Feature Updates

Visuals aside, IPRoyal has also announced multiple updates to its features:

  • Data usage reports for residential proxies. The feature allows IPRoyal’s customers to track which websites they accessed on certain dates and how much traffic they spent there. It downloads a CSV file with the data. In our case, the report included websites we hadn’t visited, so the feature may still need some work.
  • Mixed subnets for datacenter, static residential, and sneaker proxy plans. From now on, IPRoyal’s customers will get their proxies from more varied IP ranges.
  • High-end pool. IPRoyal has enabled a feature to filter out slower and less stable residential IPs for uses that require the greatest performance. Enabling it reduces the number of available addresses.
  • More IPs in the residential proxy pool. The provider’s Royal proxy network now contains over 2 million monthly IPs. The growth is impressive – back in May 2022, the pool’s size was just over 250,000 IPs.

Price Adjustments

However, the changes have a less positive side to them – price hikes for the majority of IPRoyal’s services. Some are barely noticeable in low volumes, but the provider’s star product – Royal residential proxies – has become nearly twice as expensive. This puts IPRoyal straight in the mid-range price category.

 Old starting priceNew starting priceDifference
Royal residential$4/GB$7/GB+75%
Datacenter$7.5 for 5 IPs$9 for 5 IPs+20%
Sneaker (30 days)$1.6/IP$2/IP+25%
Static residential$2.5/IP$3/IP+20%
Mobile (month)$90$90

Bottom Line

The price hikes are significant, and they will surely drop some price-sensitive clients. However, IPRoyal’s proxy network has grown significantly during the last year. And even with the new rates, it remains among the cheaper options for residential IPs compared to the providers it now tries to compete with.

The growth is fostered by the provider’s proxyware Pawns app.
Adam Dubois

Lithuanian proxy provider IPRoyal has announced that its own residential proxy pool has reached 250,000 monthly addresses.

By own, the company means IPs gained through the IPRoyal Pawns app, which rents access to people’s bandwidth and IP address.

IPRoyal used to offer two residential proxy pools: one resold from multiple sources, and one its own. However, in late October 2021, it had to discontinue the first pool after the source terminated the contract. At the time, the remaining proxy pool had around 100,000 monthly IPs, some borrowed from other providers.

Our recent data suggests that IPRoyal may still resell some of its residential IPs. However, the figure of 250,000 doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Proxyware bandwidth-sharing apps like Pawns are usually advertised as an ethical method for procuring residential IPs (compared to embedding SDKs into popular apps with or without the user’s content). But the growth reaffirms that they can also have a real impact in building proxy networks.

Until recently, the domain of proxyware apps was dominated by Honeygain and PacketStream. But in the single year of 2021, the number of similar apps more than tripled, IPRoyal being among the new entrants. You can read more about the proxyware landscape in this report.

Premium Residential Proxies had to be shut down after the IP source abruptly terminated its contract.

Lithuanian proxy provider IPRoyal has announced about discontinuing one of its residential proxy services, effective October 26.

If you’ve had the chance to read our review or use the provider, you know that it offers two separate residential IP pools:

  1. Premium with 10 million IPs which resold the proxies of three other providers.
  2. Royal with 25,000 IPs gained through IPRoyal’s own beer-money app called Pawns.

Earlier yesterday, the provider notified its customers that it would be discontinuing the Premium pool. The reason: one or more of the IP sources terminated their contract. The notice came abruptly, leaving IPRoyal little time to prepare.

In an effort to protect its existing customers, the provider promised to exchange the Premium traffic to Royal at a 1:10 ratio or grant a refund. It also increased the size of the Royal pool four times – up to 100,000 monthly IPs –  and enabled city-level targeting.

It’s unclear where the extra proxies come from; a possible option is that they’d be merged from the remaining sources of Premium IPs. What is clear, though, is that the loss of the Premium pool came as a shock, and that it’s likely to have a noticeable short-term impact on the service.

Another question is whether the Premium pool will return once IPRoyal strikes a deal with a different source, or if all resources from now on will go to the Royal residential service. Time will tell.
