Hi Vita, thanks for the comment. I’m not sure where you found an opposite definition of transparent proxies. They intercept requests and preserve your IP address in the headers. Elite proxies is a widespread industry term, which is useful to know for many of our readers. There are more than two proxy types; and if your background or experience suggest otherwise, maybe you should broaden them instead of accusing us of “destroying the internet”.

And Elite? Seriously?!

That’s a marketing term if I’ve ever seen one, that’s not any kind of proxy. Proxy types, or rather HTTP proxy types are two; each can have several operational modes, whether it tunnels or breaks and makes a new connection/encryption or not, and if so whether it modifies headers in an identifiable way, impersonates them, drops them, follows the standard, injects new ones or not.

Where are they hosted makes no difference unless you’re treating proxies as a service, not a server. Like “VPNs” and not VPN protocols. If so, I doubt “in-depth educational content” is really a concern to you and not SEO games, or that should you be “educating” people. That’s not cool. You’re destroying the Internet.

If the site doesn’t have much protection, and you won’t be making dozens of requests per second, then probably no. If the site isn’t protected but you wan’t to scrape a little faster, sha…

Anyhow, do I need a proxy server for web scraping? If it’s not google, but a random page, for example.
